How does Ceph work?

Ceph is a distributed open-source storage system that automatically distributes data across all cluster nodes using the CRUSH algorithm. Unlike classic RAID, Ceph needs no central controller every node knows the topology and can read, write and replicate on its own. The result: linear scalability, self-healing redundancy and no hidden bottleneck.
